Caves De La Madeleine In Paris, France, Early 1970's : With Steven Spuurier, Patricia Gallagher & Jon Winroth

These were some wonderfully formative times for me : these were the years just before and after I turned 21 and my mother gave me the first-ever " Beginners' Class " Wine-Education offered there by both Americans Patricia Gallagher and Jon Winroth. Jon has passed away but I would love to hear today from Patricia that has I believed married a Frenchman and been living in Paris all these years.

Mark Williamson ( ? is this name correct? ) told me a year or so ago that Patricia was at the Cordon Bleu in Paris, France.

I have since through Steven Spurrier established contact once again with Patricia and that has greatly pleased me. I have also been thrilled to be in recent communication with Steven Spurrier, as the last time I saw him was at Vin Expo in Bordeaux, France back in the mid eighties when I went there with my French friend and business partner Philippe Mellot that helped us import fine French wines for the Mayflower Wines & Spirits.

Time might make some things fade and yet other things are as alive as yesterday. When we saw each other at Vin Expo we both immediately smiled and approached one another and our greeting was warm and much-appreciated. Hope to see you again soon Steven as it has been much too much time since we last spoke and stood face-to-face. ...This is what I wrote and posted earlier, enjoy ...

lI remember years ago drinking and loving the : no dosage LEGRAS Brut Integral that cost a whopping 53 francs I believe in Paris in the early seventies when I lived there with my family ( my father was a career diplomat with the American Embassy - Foreign Service there at the time, the Consul of Visas, then of Passports, then back again to the Consul of Visas in the Talleyrand building ), and we discovered it at the Caves de la Madeleine owned by Steven Spurrier. ... And on the night before my now wife and I left Paris, France to return to the United States in late August 1980 we drank a bottle of the LEGRAS Brut Integral : what great times and memories, and Nathalie's Brut Nature is in the very same league : extraordinary, challenges the limits! Cheers, sante all, Anthony ( TONY ) Quinn 12/18/13 the sun's out on this cold December morning and the skies are a dash milky-baby blue! TONY

I look forward to seeing you Steven soon I hope. Cheers and happy New Year 2014 and Happy Holidays 2013 to both you and Patricia! Cheers, sante ... a la prochaine ...   Anthony ( TONY ) Quinn   12/18/13   I am at home as I type this and it's sunny and bright and cold outside before I head off to work to sell more holiday cheer!   TONY

I also discovered with you all a superb dry whit Montagny from the Challonaise region of Burgundy, France that I fell in love with a bought several bottles back then. I  think it cost me a whole eighteen French francs back then, that was a lot of money to me!   TONY
